My father purchased the former Open Championship venue, Prince’s Golf Club, in 1975. My siblings and I were very fortunate to have the run of such a prestigious golf course where we learned to play the game.
There are so many reasons to visit Italy and, if you ever need another, then it is that it is full of splendid golf courses. Recently we had the pleasure to visit the region of Venice and sample some of the courses and the culture of the area.
Culture is a strange word, and to some it may seem very high-brow, but if you enjoy the finer points of architecture, art, food, wine and service, then you would be hard pushed to find a destination better suited.
Comprehensively re-landscaped with imported material
The golf centre at Radlett has a fantastic location: just inside the M25 to the north of London, it is within reach and accessible to a huge number of people, yet it has a green and leafy setting.
Graham Atkinson has been a PGA professional for many years, the last of which have been spent providing an exceptional teaching and practice facility at Radlett. He has a long lease on the golf range and has been looking to develop it into something really special for some time. After a substantial period of time planning the strategy, Graham, in conjunction with London Rock, set about transforming his modest outfield into a beautiful landscape, which golfers can enjoy for many years to come.
Growing up in Wenatchee, Washington (just over four hours east from Seattle by car), I fell in love with the game of golf at a young age. After a successful junior career, I ended up getting the chance to play for a national championship, winning Wake Forest University team.
RangeBay helps to deliver a cost effective all year round teaching and practice facility
2015 has proved to be a pivotal year for RangeBay as an increased demand for the structure highlights the importance of having a covered unit for your golf facility. Originally launched in 2012, RangeBay is available as a 1 to 10 bay permanent or portable structure that gives you the opportunity to practise and teach all year round, even if the British weather doesn’t want you to!

Affordable Golf Options in Las Vegas by M. James Ward
Las Vegas. Just the utterance of those two words sends a clear and unmistakable imagery. Appropriately known as “Sin City” the gambling mecca has clearly developed an aura that involves a range of activities with golf being one of the many offerings available.
A thoughtfully designed Golf Centre built to the highest standards
Simon and his family have been farming the land on which the land sits since 1900, but have diversified over the years to run a number of projects including an equestrian hunter-trial course and a moto-cross track.
Ever since cricket managed to reinvented itself so powerfully with Twenty-20, the golfing world has been looking for a similar equivalent: a shorter form of the sport, one that could be enjoyed by everyone, one that did not require a deep and profound understanding and skill level to enjoy, something that offered immediate excitement and fun.
There have been several attempts: Powerplay golf being the one that gained the most traction but, if the truth be told, they all failed.
West Chiltington golf club, close to Pulborough in West Sussex, is another casualty of the ailing golf industry.
The course which was originally set up by Brian Barnes and open champion Max Faulkner in the 1980s has had a strong period of trading under the current owners Martin and Debs Ormrod.
However, the poor weather combined with an unpredictable trading climate has meant that the golf course has now been sold to the local vineyard. Despite the great sadness at closing, it was a business decision and the Ormrods, who have two young daughters have greatly enjoyed running the business for the last six years. Martin elaborates:
Travelling in the 21st century is often focused on a range of elements - the allure of a desired location, the range of the offerings, the fascination with the people who inhabit the area are just a few of the usual items of central interest.
But, while it might seem obvious - the key item that sets the programme for all that follows comes down to one simple but ever important item - the ease in getting from point “A” to “B”.
And therein lies the key for a location such as the Canary Islands - that Spanish archipelago of islands off the coast of Africa - and its easy wherewithal bringing plenty of visitors from a range of multiple European locations on nonstop flights.
Reaction on the day was fantastic – it seemed that all everyone could talk about for the remainder of the event was British Putting! One golf course owner acclaimed the new venture as “the most obvious solution to golf’s problems – and the answer has (literally) been under our feet all this time !!”
